Membership Guide
The CANKO Society for AI and Social Value is a non-profit, interdisciplinary academic society committed to promoting the ethical and socially beneficial development of artificial intelligence (AI). Members are expected to support the mission of the Society and abide by its Constitution, Bylaws, and Code of Ethics.
Membership Benefits
- Access to journals, publications, and research papers
- Eligibility to submit and present papers at society conferences
- Participation in workshops, seminars, and public engagement events
- Voting rights at general meetings (Full Members only)
- Eligibility to be elected to officer or committee roles
Types of Membership
- Full Member: Individuals who pay annual dues and agree to abide by the Society’s rules. Full Members hold voting rights at general meetings.
- General Member: Individuals who agree to the Society’s rules but do not pay dues. General Members may participate in activities but do not hold voting rights.
- Student Member: Full-time students may apply for a discounted membership with valid ID. Fee waivers may apply to qualifying individuals.
- Honorary Member: Appointed by the Board in recognition of exceptional contributions to the field or society.
Membership Dues
Annual dues are set by the Board of Directors and may vary by membership type. Fee exemptions or reductions may be granted for students or underrepresented individuals based on the Society's equity guidelines.
Code of Ethics
All members must agree to follow the Society’s Ethical Guidelines and Code of Conduct. Violations may result in disciplinary action as determined by the Ethics Committee.
