About the Society
The CANKO Society for AI and Social Value is a non-profit academic society established in June 2025 in British Columbia, Canada. Officially approved by the BC Corporate Registry (Name Request No. NR 2274433), the Society is dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary research, education, and public engagement on the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) for the public good.
Mission & Vision
Mission: To promote interdisciplinary research, inclusive innovation, and ethical integration of artificial intelligence with societal needs.
Vision: A future in which AI technologies enhance human dignity, social equity, and public interest.

Ethics & Governance
The Society abides by a formal Ethical Guidelines and Code of Conduct approved by its Board of Directors. An Ethics Committee oversees compliance and ensures accountability in all academic and collaborative activities.
Organizational Structure
The Society is governed by a Board of Directors and supported by advisory committees from academia, public institutions, and industry. Officers include a President, Secretary General, Treasurer, and Auditor, each serving renewable two-year terms.
